Nyamwamba II – 7.8MW run-of-the river, hydropower project situated in the Kasese District of the Western Region of Uganda.
The Nyamwamba II hydropower project was identified and fully permitted to a power purchase agreement (PPA). Land acquisition and all environmental and social management aspects were entrusted to SAEMS Engineering Ltd by the owning company Nyamwamba II Uganda Ltd, funded by parent company Serengeti Energy Ltd.
SAEMS was awarded the project design, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) as well as EM installation. This project faced a variety of challenges from inception including an Ebola outbreak, the global COVID-19 Pandemic and a devastating once in 100 year flood but this only strengthened the SEAMS team’s resolve to exceed client expectations with the successful commissioning of the plant in March 2022.
SEAMS currently services Nyamwamba II as the operations and maintenance (O&M) services provider.
